Antarctica is closer…

In fact, if sponsorship is present, I would be departing October the first, across the central Sahara desert, positioning the aeroplane for the Antarctic flight. I think a cruise ship visiting Antarctica for vacation purposes would have more success in guaranteeing a quick and easy departure.

Now that the spanish Polar Committee is fully approving the flight, the logistics inside Antarctica are being prepared.

Italy is providing full support to Spain, to Skypolaris, at its Mario Zucchelli Base, and was doing that from the very first beginning. We feel really proud of them !

The runway is the sea, left of the image. That is the reason that I have to be sure te sea is frozen!

Buuut, again USA is not helping !

The answer to the spanish Government has not been supportive. In fact, The US Division of Polar Programs doesn´t want to provide support for the airplane at Mc Murdo Station. Not only that: they don´t want even Mc Murdo to be considered an Alternate Airport.

They state that they just support multiengine-multicrew airplanes, but actually it is not right. They have approved before british single engine, single crew british operation.

The funny thing is that now they want possible future collaboration between Spanish and US programs !!! but now, they denied this cooperation !

To make it clear, we are talking about support. Would I land there, nobody would help. No fuel or lodging would be provided. But landing is not forbidden.

As you can see, flying is the easiest part of a round the world flight.
