HF system is fully set.

Finally I have been able to deploy and test the equipment, actually an Icom 706, the same radio I have been using in my year 2001´s flight.

Now, the antenna is much longer and I have been able to receive cleary from the ground, the Shannon Volmet, some 750 nm away.

Later, I have test flown the system, and I was able to communicate with Canarias control, some 1000 nm away, at 1000 ft AGL (Above Ground Level).

Following the advice of Bill Harrelson, I deploy the antenna  once I have the plane aligned with the runway. Take off, flight and landing were right, so I consider the system fully operative.

I also confirm that the depart is scheduled for February the 19th. I will fly south of Spain, and then direct into Dakar, then direct into Brasil.

I will be present ay 2016 Sun & Fun, at Lakeland, Florida (April 5-10) and also at Freidrichshafen.

Also there is a meeting scheduled January the 29th, at the spanish Polar Committee CPE, where things are still the same.

Now, they request more and more documents, knowing, just, that they cannot be provided. For instance, Antarctic Logistics Expeditions, request first, the CPE permit, and then, we can agree a deal. CPE secretary request not even the deal, first, but the coverage to be already paid!!! and then may be, deny the permit.

So, I will write Santa Claus, just in case.

El equipo de HF está completamente instalado. Es el mismo equipo que llevé en mi vuelta al mundo  de 2001, un Icom 706.

La antena es considerablemente mas larga, 14 metros, y me ha permitido escuchar claramente el volmet de Shannon (Irlanda) desde el suelo de Robledillo. Ya en vuelo, he podido comunicar con el Control de Canarias, a 1800 kms de mi posición, y a una altura de 300 metros. El HF es un equipo de comunicaciones de alta frecuencia, onda larga, que permite comunicar a muy grandes distancias. Poco a poco lo irá sustituyendo los sistemas de comunicaciones via satélite, aunque aún no están totalmente implementados.

Siguiendo el consejo de Bill Harrelson, extiendo la antena una vez alineado en pista. Todas las fases del vuelo han ido bien en esa configuración.

Confirmo que la salida será el 19 de Febrero y que volaré al sur de España desde donde volaré directo a Dakar y entonces, directo a Brasil.

Estaré presente en Sun & Fun de 2016, así como en Friedrichshafen.

El 29 de Enero está prevista la reunión con el Comité Polar Español CPE, donde todo sigue igual o peor. Su secretario pide más y más documentos, entre ellos unos seguros que no se pueden aportar, ya que la propia empresa que lo proporciona, ( en este caso Antarctic Logistics Expeditions) necesita primero, el visto bueno del CPE para poder ver las condiciones. El secretario quiere ya un seguro en vigor sin ofrecer ni siquiera garantías del permiso.

En fin, se ve que hay que escribir a los Reyes Magos…
