The rear fuel tank has been installed and hooked into the system.

It was not a piece of cake and it took many hours to do it.

Now it is strapped and the  emergency valve working through the fuselage. It was tough to take the decision to open  big hole underneath the rear seat, but it was a mandatory safety item for myself.

Last wednesday, the Spanish Royal Aeroclub finally had their logos installed on the airplane. The eagle, together with spanish flag are quite impressive, even aggressive from the front view.

The ¨Real Aeroclub de España¨ is also sponsoring the project, so it is good news.

I have also received the survival raft. It is called LRU 16/P. It is a one person raft, specially designed for cold waters and high seas. I really rope never to use it!

Only problem is that it is in black color, and the reason is that it is used for military. Black is more difficult to be found by enemy. It is true that, if necessary, I can open and show the inside bright orange inflatable cover.

If everything ok, the spanish Air Force will have the raft fully equipped, together with the survival gear and a float jacket that is really light and wearable when using a parachute, as it is very similar to an inflatable neck device. I will be sitting the raft, as there is not much room free in the plane.It will be anchored to me, would I need to parachute from the plane.

No news from the polar committee. It looks like  the Technical Secretary is delaying everything. He is really unfriendly.

Finalmente el depósito trasero está instalado,con sus cinchas y conectado al avión. No ha sido pan comido y ha llevado muchas horas su instalación.

Tampoco fue fácil la decisión de hacer el agujero que atraviesa el fuselaje a la altura del asiento trasero, para dar salida a la válvula de vaciado de emergencia. Pero era obligatorio para mi, por motivos de pura seguridad.

El miércoles pasado el Real Aeroclub de España instaló finalmente su logotipo en el avión. La verdad es que queda impresionante el águila junto a la bandera española. Incluso con cierto toque agresivo !

El Real Aeroclub, gracias a Jose Luis Olias y su equipo, apoyan y patrocinan el proyecto, asi que es una buena noticia.

Ya he recibido la balsa de supervivencia. Se trata del modelo LRU 16/P, monoplaza, especialmente diseñada para aguas frías y mar gruesa.

El único problema es su color negro, cuya explicación es el uso militar, para dificultar su localización por el enemigo.

Sin embargo, se puede abrir su protección infalible superior y mostrar su brillante interior butano, para hacerla más visible a la tripulación de rescate. Me sentaré encima de ella y estará enganchada al arnés del paracaídas, por si tengo que saltar sobre el mar.

Si todo va bien, el Ejército del Aire la prepara con todo el equipo de emergencia, que incluye un chaleco inflable realmente pequeño y cómodo, muy similar a los dispositivos infalibles de cuello que se utilizan para descansar en los viajes.

Por otro lado, no hay noticias del comité polar. Da la sensación  que el Secretario Tecnico sigue retrasando todo. No es nada amigable !
