Next Stop – Manaus, Brazil
At 1100 UTC Michel will depart Santarem and fly to the city of Manaus, Brazil a flying distance of 381 miles (613 Km). This is a short hop for Michel and his Sky Polaris RV-8. but remember that he is still flying over remote jungle. If you wanted to drive to Manaus, it would take you 33 hours and you would drive over 2113 km! As you can imagine, flying over the Amazon Jungle is much preferred to driving through it.
Michel will still be flying over the Amazon River and should have good photos to share with us.
Manaus is the largest city in the Amazon region with over 3 million people, but getting there is mostly by boat or airplane – so it is a large isolated city. It is in Manaus where the Amazon River is born from the mating of the Negro and Solimões Rivers!
