300 Miles from Dakar

300 Miles from Dakar

As of 3:44pm Sky Polaris time, Michel is only 300 miles from Dakar. He has flown non-stop over 1100 miles in 10 hours (he lost an hour due to time zone change). By my calculations he has maintained a speed of about 130 MPH. The plan was to fly over water instead of land due to icing, but Michel must have gotten an updated weather report that reduced the icing risk. His track brought him over Morocco, Sahara, Mauritania, and he is now approaching Senegal.

The Iridium tracking shows that he has been maintaining a speed of 75-90 mph, but that is obviously wrong. I will advise Michel about this when he checks in with Sky Polaris headquarters.

Your encouragement of Michel and the flight is very much appreciated. Please add your own comments to the posts and send Michel greetings.

Hopefully the landing at Dakar will be without problems, and Michel can get: 1 – A bathroom, 2 – some good food, and 3 – some rest after a long and bouncy flight over the deserts of Africa.
