On the Antarctic Ice!
After flying for 15 hours and 2200 miles, Michel has navigated across the southern Antarctic Ocean, crossed towering mountains and flew half-way across the Antarctic continent to a landing at the Mario Zucchelli station. What a tremendous achievement this is! The station is quite used to aircraft landings by C-130’s C-17’s, and some smaller twin engine aircraft. But have they ever been visited by an RV-8? A small single engine aircraft that Michel Gordillo built with his own hands? I seriously doubt that this has ever happened.
History has been made. We should be popping champagne corks now!
Hopefully Michel will have an internet connection while there and can make some posts here and send photos and descriptions of this one-of-a-kind flight.
